It seems like every day I read about how government wastes money so I thought I would record them. Since I began this blog, I have been stunned by the amount of waste, fraud, and mismanagement I have found. I recognize that some government is necessary for any society to exist but without the "profit incentive" that we have in private enterprise, government continues to grow like a cancer and along with it the potential for abuse. If you ever needed a reason to limit government, just read some of the following posts.

Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) Card
While standing in line at the cash register today, I watched the lady in front of me pay for her purchases with an EBT card and then walk outside and get into a new Cadillac Escalade, a $75,000+ vehicle. Now, I do not know how or why she was able to get government assistance but my initial impression was that something was not right with our government's welfare system. Is it any wonder that so many people voted for a man that promised to cut government spending and social spending.

Wastebook
Senator Jeff Flake has released Wastebook: PORKémon Go, the latest chronicle of government waste in a series started by former Oklahoma Sen. Tom Coburn. The report covers 50 items and more than $5 billion in spending on outrageous government programs and frivolous projects. All of this waste is going on while our national debt is approaching 20 trillion dollars (that's $20,000,000,000,000) or ~$166,775 per taxpayer).

Political Hypocrisy
Most politicians have a "do as I say, not as I do" mentality. Obama tapped Joe Biden to head a program to cut government waste. Ironically, here is an excerpt from the book The First Family Detail by Ronald Kessler showing Biden spending over a million dollars of taxpayer money on personal trips from Washington DC to his home in Delaware. Before becoming VP, he use to take Amtrak.
